OllowEditor

OllowEditor is a lightweight, reusable, open-source rich text editor built for modern web applications, CMS platforms, admin dashboards, publishing systems, and SaaS products. It started as a simple JavaScript editor and has now grown into a multi-platform developer tool with support for npm-based frontend/MERN projects and pip-based Python frameworks.

Challenge

Modern web applications often need a clean and reusable rich text editor for content management, article writing, admin dashboards, newsroom systems, and SaaS platforms. However, many existing editors are either too heavy, complex to customize, difficult to integrate with backend forms, or not flexible enough for different technology stacks. The challenge was to build an editor that is simple for developers to integrate, lightweight for real-world applications, visually clean for end users, and flexible enough to support multiple ecosystems such as JavaScript, MERN, React, Next.js, Django, Flask, and FastAPI.

Solution

CodeFortify developed OllowEditor as a clean and developer-friendly rich text editor with support for both simple JavaScript usage and modern package-based integrations. The editor supports a polished writing interface, light and dark mode, reusable toolbar actions, media-ready content blocks, Markdown import/export, HTML output, image handling, gallery support, embeds, tables, code blocks, fact boxes, related content, and attachment blocks. To make OllowEditor easier to use across different stacks, CodeFortify also created package versions for npm and pip. The npm version is designed for JavaScript, TypeScript, React, MERN, Next.js, Node.js, NestJS, and Vue developers. The pip version is designed for Python developers working with Django, Django Rest Framework, Flask, and FastAPI.

Technology

OllowEditor was built with a frontend-first architecture and packaged for multiple developer ecosystems. The JavaScript version provides a lightweight editor that can work with standard HTML forms and automatically sync editor content as HTML output. The npm package extends support for modern JavaScript and MERN stack projects, including React and TypeScript-based applications. The Python pip package enables easier integration with backend frameworks such as Django, DRF, Flask, and FastAPI.

Result

OllowEditor is now available as an open-source rich text editor for multiple developer communities. It can be used in CMS platforms, publishing tools, admin dashboards, SaaS applications, portfolio systems, blog editors, and custom content management workflows. https://olloweditor.codefortify.cloud
